1 Day in Koh Lipe: The Perfect Island Itinerary
If you only have 1 day in Koh Lipe, you might be wondering whether it’s enough time to experience the island—or if it’s worth visiting at all.
Although Koh Lipe is small and easy to explore on foot, deciding how to spend just 24 hours isn’t as straightforward as it seems.
Most guides recommend everything from full-day snorkeling tours to kayaking, hiking, and beach hopping, making it difficult to know what should actually make your itinerary.
After exploring Koh Lipe myself, I quickly realised that the island’s size is actually its biggest advantage.
You can fit a surprising amount into one day without constantly rushing, as long as you know what to prioritise and what to leave for a longer visit.
This guide shares exactly how I’d spend one day in Koh Lipe, including the best order and optional alternatives.

1 Day in Koh Lipe Itinerary (Best Plan for 24 Hours)
If you only have one day in Koh Lipe, focus on a handful of memorable experiences rather than trying to see everything.
Thanks to the island’s compact size, you can fit plenty into a single day without constantly rushing. Most places are within a 15–20 minute walk, and Walking Street naturally connects the main beaches.
Here’s how I’d spend one day in Koh Lipe:
This itinerary is designed to show you the best of Koh Lipe in just one day while leaving enough flexibility to slow down, take breaks, and enjoy the island’s laid-back atmosphere.
If something catches your eye, don’t feel like you have to stick rigidly to the schedule. That’s part of Koh Lipe’s charm!
If you’re planning activities like snorkeling or kayaking, having travel insurance is highly recommended – especially on remote islands like Koh Lipe.
Morning: Sunrise Beach & Shore Snorkeling
Start your day at Sunrise Beach, the best place on Koh Lipe to experience the island’s crystal-clear water.
Early morning is when the sea is at its calmest, underwater visibility is at its best, and there are far fewer boats and people, making it the perfect time to snorkel straight from the shore.
Rather than rushing into a packed itinerary, slow down and enjoy Koh Lipe’s laid-back atmosphere.

Grab a coffee at Elephant Café or a small beach bar, then head to the northern end of Sunrise Beach near Ten Moons or Karma Beach, where you’ll find some of the island’s best shore snorkeling.
Swim about 50–120 metres from the beach, where the coral reef begins and you’ll have the best chance of spotting colourful reef fish and healthy coral.
I snorkeled here early in the morning and was surprised by how clear the water was.
Even though I visited during the busy Chinese New Year period, Sunrise Beach still felt peaceful at this time of day, making it one of my favourite experiences on the island.
If snorkeling is one of your priorities, I’ve put together a detailed guide to the best snorkeling spots in Koh Lipe, including the best beaches, nearby reefs, and snorkeling tours.
Compare snorkeling tours in Koh Lipe (routes, prices & availability)
If you want to secure a spot (especially in high season), it’s worth checking availability in advance — some of the best tours sell out quickly.
Late Morning: Walking Street & Pattaya Beach
After snorkeling, make your way towards Pattaya Beach via Walking Street, the island’s lively main street connecting Koh Lipe’s three main beaches.
Although Walking Street is busiest in the evening, it’s worth wandering through during the day to browse local shops, stop by the Urak Lawoi Community Center, or simply get a feel for the island beyond its beaches.
By the time you reach Pattaya Beach, the midday heat is usually starting to build, making it the perfect place to slow down over lunch.
There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, whether you’re after authentic Thai food, fresh seafood, or a quick bite before your afternoon adventure.
One of the island’s biggest advantages is that everything is close together, so you can enjoy a relaxed lunch before heading out again.

Afternoon: Kayak to Koh Kra or Koh Usen
After lunch, head back to Sunrise Beach and rent a kayak for one of Koh Lipe’s most rewarding experiences.
Paddling to Koh Kra or Koh Usen is an easy way to escape the busier beaches without committing to a full-day tour.
The islands are only a short paddle away and offer crystal-clear water, quiet beaches, and excellent snorkeling, making them a great choice if you enjoy exploring at your own pace.
I loved kayaking around Koh Lipe because it gave me a completely different perspective of the island, which is a part of Tarutao National Marine Park, a protected marine area.
Away from the main beaches, everything felt much quieter, and stopping whenever I wanted to swim or snorkel made the experience feel far more relaxed than joining a group tour.
Allow around 2–3 hours for this part of the itinerary, giving yourself plenty of time to paddle, snorkel, and simply enjoy being on the water before heading back to the island.
- Cost: ~150–300 THB ($4–8 USD)

Prefer Hiking? Visit Koh Adang Instead
If you’d rather swap kayaking for a short adventure on land, take a longtail boat to Koh Adang, just across from Sunrise Beach.
The 30–45 minute viewpoint hike rewards you with one of the best panoramic views in the Andaman Sea, overlooking Koh Lipe’s turquoise coastline and surrounding islands.
After the hike, you can relax on the beach before returning by boat.
- Boat cost: ~100–150 THB ($3–4 USD) per person
Both options are excellent, but I’d recommend choosing one rather than trying to fit both into the same afternoon. Koh Lipe is small, but slowing down and enjoying each experience is part of what makes the island so special.

Evening: Sunset, Dinner & Walking Street
End your day at Sunset Beach, one of the best places on Koh Lipe to watch the sun disappear below the Andaman Sea.
The atmosphere here is much quieter than Pattaya Beach, making it the perfect place to slow down after an active afternoon. Grab a drink from one of the small beach bars, find a spot on the sand, and enjoy the view.
After sunset, walk back through Walking Street, which comes alive in the evening with restaurants, cafés, bars, and local shops.
Whether you’re in the mood for fresh seafood, authentic Thai food, or something more casual, you’ll find plenty of great options within a short walk.
If you still have the energy, finish the day with a beachfront drink or a fire show on Pattaya Beach or Sunrise Beach. They usually only last a few minutes, but they’re a fun way to end your time on the island.
If you’d rather take it slow, simply stay where you are and enjoy a relaxed dinner by the beach. There’s no wrong way to spend your final evening in Koh Lipe.
